Spaces Within
This series of work was completed in or inspired by my artist residency in Sydney during the fall of 2017 and marks a departure in technique and concept: These hand-built coiled stoneware and terracotta pieces place equal emphasis on interior space and positive form, and reflect my experiences in the Northern Territories, working with Aboriginal ceramic artists near Alice Springs. The 2017 pieces were created in Australia, the 2018 to present made in Canada. The large pieces from 2019 were made at Medalta in the Historic Clay District, Medicine Hat, Alberta.
