It’s Worth the Drive to Wiarton…

• Ali and I spent a lovely weekend visiting my former Ceramics History prof, Winn Burke at his farm/home/studio in Markdale this weekend.  Winn hosted a lovely potters’ gathering Saturday night with his new neighbour and fellow Sheridan teaching alum, Bruce Cochrane, and recent grad, Marcelina.  Along with Jac and Buddy, the designer cats, we had a grand time.  We booted it up to Wiarton to stop in on Tim Smith and Katherine King working away on a glazing blitz.

  Heidi McKenzie is an emerging ceramic artist currently enrolled in the second year of the Sheridan Advanced Diploma in Crafts and Design Ceramics Program. In 2009, Heidi rekindled her childhood passion for clay and at mid-life embarked on a three-month residency at the foothills of the Himalayas in India with Mansimran Singh, student of iconic British potter, Bernard Leach. In the spring of 2010, Heidi left behind her arts consultancy practice and fully committed to her new life path as an artist.
